Look no further than County Bowling Club in Northlands Road Southampton.
10 years ago, a lonely widower, I was pushed unwillingly into this club and was immediately enveloped into a bunch of the friendliest men and ladies you'll ever come across. You are a friend as soon as you walk into the club and while I am in the bottom 50 of the world's worst bowlers, I am accepted as though the greatest of them all.
That seems to be the ethos of the club, which caters for all shapes and sizes from beginner to expert.
Oh, and I am no longer a lonely widower: I met a lovely widow in the club and we have been blissfully married for 6 years!
